A beautiful mystery

The things are in fact quite vague, and I am not even sure I understand what was happening. But somehow is doesn't really matter. It is a journey of believable, interesting people that grabs and enchants you, without knowing where it is going.

Strength by purity

Very well played and realistically shot drama, that cleverly switches between the cold, calculated negotiations and the sweaty, messy situation on the ship. It disposes of all ornaments, which makes it a honest if not somewhat sterile experience.

Not for everyone, but definitely for some

You'll need some knowledge of contemporary gaming, the Youtube subculture, and mental preparation for a barrage of restless imagery and hysteric jokes. But if you manage all that, you'll find that it has it's heart at the right place, is enjoyable and sometimes a good laugh indeed.

Refinened horror that mixes several discomforts but remains subtle

A refined, slow and uncomfortable movie that blends the horror with the dread of disease, the feeling of being unable to leave and helplessness. I thought it was really good watching it, but did notice it fading from my memory pretty fast afterwards - usually caused by a lack of standout moments.

A succesfull approach for a subject like this

I needed some time to make up my mind. Never quite sure whether it is erotic or just plain nasty, whether it is pretentious or unique and brave. Overall, not a pleasant experience, but one with impact and substance, and some images that keep on haunting me.

Quite unique and fun, not really scary though

While I would have liked these to be more gory and/or scary, I found the first 4 very amusing and fresh spooky tales, with some clever and inspired stories. The final two a bit less so.

Nicely done, but minimal

It's lovingly made and compelling throughout, but it is suffering somewhat form the minimal story. Sometimes this leads to a pleasant slowburn pace, but at other times it is struggling to fill up time, with events that seems irrelevant for the overall story.

A painful story that needs to be told

This harrowing story is hard to watch, is made well and made me read into the backstory for sure. It feels inappropriate to even criticize it, but somehow it looses a few points because it really felt and experienced like a movie adaptation, creating some distance/shielding from the true horror.

Works as a trip

Upon first viewing, I was put off by the apathetic Brad and a bunch of dissonant shenanigans in the story and space tech. But if you manage to just drift along with this dreamy, peculiar and beautiful space adventure, it can be quiet absorbing.

Fine Danish mystery

While not spectacular, this series provides a interesting mystery and characters - all embedded in that lovely Danish vibe: slowish and gray, yet relaxed and natural.

Beautiful painting of heroic bloodshed

This side effect of the wonderful style is that is also creates veil that blocks connection with the people and story. But as a glorious ode to violence and bravery, I thought it was impressive, intense and beautifully crafted. Also: Eva Green.

Moody and dark

This horror is carried almost exclusively on atmosphere, darkness, a deep sense of desolation and fear within. It is done wonderfully, it looks very moody and is acted well. At around 3 quarters through I felt a slight yearning for some twist or acceleration, but perhaps it is best without it.

smooth

There is something very classy about this movie, with nice actors and a pleasant, self-confident pace that make it a silky smooth ride. I did think the 'Stay in school' mentor-ship of a black dude was rather cliched and obligate, but in the end in did suit the story.

A strange disaster movie about communication

This movie has seemingly normal, recognizable people in a seemingly familiar disaster movie, but something is off and strange throughout. It's mostly the dialogues, that seem to make a statement about how we (don't) communicate and are disconnected from each other. Remarkable but satisfying.

Plenty of coolness in here

I will never get used to the sound of desperate Japanese women panicking. Otherwise, this movie offers neat graphics, a cool atmosphere, imaginative kick-ass weapons and great monsters - whose design is familiar like 'typical' ghouls, but brought to live with high details and uncanny lighting.

Mostly succesful

A risky movie concept, requiring a top-notch actor and scripts to make the switch from actual boredom to fascination. Despite the ill-advised decision to make the astronaut a rather cold lifeless character, and some moments of actual boredom, this movie also gets plenty of things right. Well done.

Beautiful contrasts

The beauty of the girl amidst the cold neon lights and people, which I guess symbolizes the harsh nature of the modelling world, works out great. It then builts up to an even greater contrast with death and gore, without ever becoming cheap or revolting. Wow.

Find the purpose of live by ending it. Twice.

The movie is mostly a philosophical essay about life and death, told through voice overs, long flashbacks and some events in the future. It can be a bit slow and loaded, but mostly it hits the mark and provides an interesting watch with some great acting and a good atmosphere.

Nice small-town cosmic horror

A nicely done movie with some cosmic horror and mystery, a lovely 'something is off' vibe, good 'rural town' atmosphere and a lead actress who manages to gain sympathy despite playing quite a nasty person. A nice treat indeed.

Minimalistic but not

The cinematography is as sober and plain as the cult members live their lives. It's almost a collage of images and unspoken emotions instead of a traditional story, but you still can feel the revolution building up beneath the skin. Good.

A big little movie

A reminder that glimpses can be more effective than in your face CGI mayhem, and that simple stories told and acted with care can be just as engrossing as any. A rather nifty little movie.

A bold idea done pretty well

A bold and interesting idea, but will looking at the same confined woman for an entire movie be interesting enough? During the first half I wasn't sure, but then it comes up with enough twists and some impressive shots to make it work. Not by a huge margin, but certainly enough.

Exciting fly on the wall

A nail-biting experience that had me hooked and managed to make the legal ramifications of firing a missile quite exciting indeed. I just thought the crying, insubordinate drone pilots were ridiculous.

A classic that is a little too slow for it's own good

A moody and stylish scifi movie that defined the standard for shaping futuristic dark cities and matched it with a great soundtrack. I like how it takes time for everything, including people simply going from A to B, but near the end the slow pacing isn't quite rewarded by the underwhelming climax.

Impressively acted drama

A small, uncomplicated story that works because of slew of actors at the top of their game and an intimate, delicate atmosphere. It never becomes over-dramatic and it dares to be quite and just let the silence, expressions and stares speak for themselves.

Moody en interesting mystery

It can be a tad sluggish, and I sometimes became frustrated with the incomplete and vague way people talked. Mostly though, the story is intriguing, and the easy going pace combined the Icelandic setting created a lovely, mysterious glow.

Interesting look at an incredible machine

There is a slight overload of scientific superlatives on how important and revolutionary it all is. But with a device like that, and theories like that, and findings like that, I suppose they are right! Quite fascinating.

Not as good as the preceeding parts, but still fine

It is dark and slightly depressing, it is kind of slow at times and the music sounded simplistic and almost unfinished to me. So all in all less successful than the previous parts. But there's still heaps of impressive and sympathetic apes working together and fighting intense encounters.

Effective and subtle

There's something small and simple about this oddly titled horror, which makes it subtle, intimate and quite intriguing. There's not much standard horror mayhem, but rather a sense of discomfort and mystery. Quiet nicely done, I must say,

A pleasant, very funny surprise

Expecting this to be remotely entertaining at best, I found myself laughing out loud numerous times, which made me realize what a rarity such movies have become. A very funny movie with Applegate and and Helms showing they totally get the vacation-movie heritage and humor.

A strangely presented and dark tale, that gets to you nonetheless

I needed some getting used to the stiff, strangely brought dialogues from some characters, but eventually this added to a uncomfortable, disconnected, but intriguing atmosphere. The boy's behavior really makes you anxious, as does the dark story as whole.

Mostly a simple idea done well

This move has a nice, confident focus on a single plot: two women facing a monster. The performances are really good and the movie is effective most of the time. After a while though, I was kind of done with their screaming and sobbing, and the initially charming simplicity began to work against it.

Well made and well acted

The surprisingly warm and talented cast, including Amy Schumer herself, make this movie flow wonderfully and naturally, providing plenty of smiles and a general good feeling along the way.

A competent mix of horror, thriller and drama that's different and refreshing, and has several satisfying plot twists on offer. The 'rewinding' sounds and sights seemed below the class of this movie, but that's about it.

Cool man

A stylish, fresh movie with some very cool fighting scenes and a nice mix of sci-fi, action and some humor.

A clever and wonderful concept, executed a bit childishly

Quite an amazing story cleverly put together with love and eye for detail. It's just that the persons involved are all too pretty, gayly chatting all the time... it's sort of lacks the notion that you should take it seriously or that these people are real.

Tremendous fun and adventure. A success.

Me and my wife agreed that the balance between action/chase scenes and supernatural historical mystery could perhaps be opposite of what it is, but this is entertaining and fun, pretty much the way it should be. Whether it truly has lasting standout moments, I am not sure.

Nicely done crime/horror movie

A rather solid movie with good acting, great badass characters, and a gloomy en dark atmosphere reminiscent of Seven.

A strange but tasty slowburner

A well-acted and mysterious flick that makes you sense something is wrong way before it is. It is slow and without a manual, but near the end you wind up so clueless that it leaves a slightly unrewarding feeling though.

Didn't see that one coming

A very satisfying time travel movie that manages to stack twist upon twist and does so with class, fine performances and without becoming gimmicky.

A small but sympathetic hero movie

A bit slowish, silly and I am not even sure it looked that great. But there's a kind of uncomplicated, honest and straight-up fun entertainment in here, making it more enjoyable than certain other hysteric and megalomanic hero movies.

Violent video clip, done with much love

Easy to fault, but I was amused by the violent, fabulously stylized, unearthly, anachronistic action, as well as the moody and steamy atmosphere. Absorb it like a videoclip, then you may get it.

I quite liked this

This worked remarkably well. It uses the superman foundation but takes it a whole new direction with tasteful suspense, some horror, some scifi and nice characters whilst still keeping it compact and intimate.

Pleasant surprise

Expecting this to be a loud and dumb 'modern take' on the fairytale, I was pleasantly surprised. The pacing is right, it never goes over the top, it looks great and the actors deliver, especially Theron!

Good satire with an undertone

It's basically an amusing political commentary that is is exaggerated and sensational on the one hand, but uncomfortably recognizable and realistic on the other.

Stylish and focussed

Instead of getting overly smart with the premise, or making it a gimmicky science fiction, it keeps focus on the main story and a few central characters, and makes it all very classy, mysterious and sometimes dark movie indeed.

Okay these guys are tough

As these men are battered & bruised, smashed against rocks, cornered and shot, the increasing dread of death and hopelessness comes across very well. Intense movie that stuck for a while.

Shoot 'em up between navy seals and taliban

Main part of the movie consists of Americans and Taliban chasing, shooting, injuring and killing eachother. Apparently a navy seal can sustain more injury than Iron Man ("is there a bullet in my head?"). Overall an okay movie for those of us not easily scared by bloody scenes.

Over the top science fiction action movie (in a good way)

A bit too much of everything, but somehow just right because of that!

Take some time to let it sink in, and start enjoying

Not familiar with this comic, I feared I'd never get into this unexplained stream of weirdness. But the humor, vivid space combat action and sympathetic characters grew on me and left me quite entertained indeed.

Superman remains tough to beat, and tough to make a good film out of

They have given him some worthy adversaries other than kryptonite, resulting in some really smashing showdowns. But the storytelling is messy, and Hollywood still doesn't realize that an overdose of fast, blurry and over the top destruction only leaves viewers bored and cut off from the movie.

Pleasant and intimate modern fairytale

A pleasant modern day fairlytale with an intimate atmosphere and performances. Much more refined than big blockbusters, and the sickness is brought without sugarcoating. It's just that the twist at the end, although I can see the point of it, was somewhat abrupt and left me slightly unfulfilled.
